I had a small vacuum leak when I was pulling the cooling
system down to feed in the coolant. Turned out to be the blue
hose on the EGR cooler needed to be turned a bit more. I found
that part odd. Anyone care to comment on that?
Anyway with it all back together I want to retest #7 injector
for the contribution to see if moving the plug around helped
or not. That was one of the plugs that were beat up.
Let me see if I have any more photos to share.
My friend for stuck bolts. Heat them up and spray with Kroil. Works like a charm
RTV crumbs all over the place
Don't know if you can see the injector plugs or not.

After a week of not being able to drive it.
Well it felt nice to be back in a Bigger truck
ans out of that little Mini Cooper.
Off topic but this may be up yer alley. I got a call the other day about looking at a diesel powered air plane.
I knew nothing about it so I had to decline. Do they even make a diesel powered air plane?

There have been a few piston diesel engines. What I am unsure of if
any ever got past the experimental stages.
I did find this in one of the magazines I read
Then there is this one too. They say that they are in a booth at Oshkosh.
I have not had time to read up on the topic. Might be something to put in
to reading list.
Hmm, I thought it was you that had one. Well I went looking for one
because of you guys that do this day in and day out. Someone had
one at work but that is all I can recall now.
I nailed that one on Ebay for $250 I think. The guy was a dealer and
it looked to be a demo unit. So it was in really good shape with all
the papers and what not. What I need to do is get some more coils
and some of the pads. They say you can pop small ding type dents
with it.

Not to steal the thread because my 6.0 is still in pieces in the driveway but on to the diesel powered airplane.
Several years ago I was involved with a company and we were doing to experimental flights with a V8 Diesel engine mounted on a King Air 90. Was okay at lower altitudes but lacked the performance of the turbine at higher altitudes along with less than desirable fuel burn. Then there was a host of other quirks rearing their ugly heads at temperatures in the -70 and below range. No matter what the engineers tried we could not keep enough heat in the engine to make it run even close to decent. The company ran out of money and the last time I seen the plane it was abandoned at a small airport in Kansas with everything of value stripped from it. The guy heading up the project went back to South Africa and last I heard he was flying for some prince in Dubai.
It was a very ambitious project but the people behind it were making some very unrealistic claims about performance when we were getting nothing close to what they were claiming trying to get funding.
And I really wish I could say my 6.0 is back running but no such luck, there's a gremlin running around inside the main wiring harness and I have yet to come up with the proper voodoo to exercise him.
