I did a lot of research to get the best price on (in my opinion) high quality parts. Timken bearings all made in USA except one, a Canook. I just added all my receipts. The total is $315.00 That includes all 6 bearing sets, 3 seals, oil slinger, nut, shim kit, FMC oil, friction modifier, RTV, I'm sure I'm missing something.

The pro, most likely, would have charged more for parts. He is in business to make money! That leaves very little of the $600 - $700 for labor. My final cost to have the pro do it probably would have been closer to $900. Make me feel better about taking this on.

Mr CMK

Yeah but it could have went south in a hurry! If the gears were new it would have made this a lot more difficult do to different shim set up on pinion and RG. A lot more adjusting shims and checking patterns. So yes, my project wasn't so bad.

Thanks to all that helped and gave support!

I'm glad you got it together and it has no noise. The next one will go much smoother. FYI, to fill the diff easily, remove the ABS speed sensor at the top of the housing and pour the fluid in there.

That's a good tip ,..but the last time I filled mine , the oil I bought came in this real thin flexy bottle , that you squeezed like a tube of tooth paste , and it was simple to fill it .

Have about 400 miles now. All different types of driving but been taking it easy from a stop. Still no noise and still gets warm/hot at pinion bearing.

Great tip on the speed sensor! The breather did not work as well as I thought.

Gear oil question: I did not replace the gears so do I need to change the gear oil after few hundred miles or not? I got the impression the oil change was for the phosphorus on the new gears and the metal from new gears seating. All I added was bearings so I'm thinking the $50 dollars can be saved. ADVICE??

No need to change the oil again.
