Axle Id ?
I'm looking to buy a set of LS axles from a '90 bronco to replace my open Diffs. The axle code on the door jam is "H9" In the Ford manual this seems to show that it has LS Diffs but the question I have is Did Ford automatically put LS in the back And in the front or just the rear axle the manual says the front axle LS is indicated by a "2"
Does anyone have any more insite to the codes? Or will I ultimately be forced just to jack up the truck and spin the wheels?

H9 is the code for a Ford 8.8" rear axle, 3.55:1 gears with the factory L/S like you thought. That was a common option in the rear axle only, even in the earlier models with the Ford 9" rearend. A few trucks did also have the L/S in the front Dana44 TTB axle, but that was far less common. You can always double-check by looking for the ID tag on either axle pumpkin, as it will have the gear ratio and whether or not it has L/S. AN open axle just has the numbers for the ratio, while the L/S-equipped models have an "L" in the ratio, like "3L55 88..."
