Hello again.
Just last night I was fiddling around with the truck (71' f250 2WD auto w/390) getting it ready for inspection and I turned the headlights on to go around the block. It was fine but when I pulled back into the driveway I was just letting it idle for a bit and the headlights just shut off and then the dash lights shut off shortly after. I turned the switch off and on a bunch of times and the dash lights come on like they should but now the headlights wont come on.
There is no fuse for the headlamps. The switch has a built-in circuit breaker. If you have no high or low beams, it's most likely the headlight switch.
Have you probed anything with a test light, like headlight plugs, high/low switch, fuse panel?
Checked any connections, like turn sig switch plug, inst. cluster circuit board plug, high/low sw. plug?
Alright...I figure it out....And I feel a little silly. I got in the truck to move it and i just barely bumped the hi/low switch on the floor and the headlights kicked on! There must just be a sweet spot that makes them turn off but its pretty hard to find so it wont happen very often. Im glad it wasnt a wiring issue!

I think I can speak for all of us. We respect you more for feeling silly and admitting it compared to needing our help, figuring it out as something simple, and the disappearing. Thanks Man.
Yup this was a common problem with all the bumps. And if it has not happen to you already then wait it will.
1.The Head Light switch failures
2.The high & low beam switch fails b
3.The head light wiring loom in the eng. bay fails from moisture.
4. head light bulb socket bad.
These are all things that can happen just to the head lights.

I wouldn't call it a problem. Bumps and their switches are just old. Back in 1990ish I had a dimmer switch knock out my headlamps in a Chrysler station wagon driving on a Colorado moutain road. Around the mountain. No guard rails. Snowing. Car full of people. Same idea floor switch.
