The blower motor on my 1986 E 150 works but doesn't blow like it used to. On the highest setting it doesn't seem to be blowing very hard, on the other settings the same. Low is so low it hardly blows at all.
On a 3 hr drive last week driving up and down hills, with the ac on high the fan would stop then go back on. I know that may be a vaccum problem but would it cause the fan not to blow as hard as usual all the time?

Leaves! My '88 was the same after sitting for years. The leaves fall through the slots in the cowl and turning on the blower draws the bits into the blower. The blower shreds them like a yard vac and packs them into the evaporator/heater core. Mine was 3/4s packed, very little airflow on high.
I pulled the blower, vacuumed out the debris, and it works great. 55 degree air and lots of it.
I also removed the cowl and put screen under the cowl slots to avoid having to do it all again next fall! :-)

Thanks for the tip Jimandnena, But I pulled the blower and didn't see anything there. About 3 years ago I replaced the entire A/C so it should be clean.
