Using the Search function of a PDF reader to locate a part number is one way to end up with the wrong information. Just sayin....
Thats if you even get a hit. Dont know how many times I did a search for a generic term and it said no hits found. I can do a search for something like connector and it says no hits found. I did that last night cause I am going to build the dual horn harness myself but trying to see if I can find the oem style connectors cheap.
I found some that look right they are motorcraft and with a number of WPT 378 on ebay, but no way will I spend $20 - $40 per connector when I need three of them. Id just rather ****** the one off that 1980 Ford at work and play dumb about what happened to it.

Searching the Text section for any sort of generic term or name you think might have been used is usually gonna be a huge waste of time, I was more referring to searching on the Basic (aka Group) number of a part.
The way we're supposed to use this catalog is to first go find a drawing of the item, that should tell you the Group number of the part. For example, let's use your transmission output shaft, every tranny output shaft built by Ford since the beginning of time Bill will jump in and list the exceptions (if there are any) and tell me I'm wrong if I am has a 7060 group number.
You then go to the Text section and look up the Group 7060 stuff to find the correct application and complete part number. This is if it's an easy part to find and the catalog doesn't send you to 3 other places from there; for your tranny shaft, you'd first need to go to the correct sub-section for the tranny you have.
If one searches the Text section for 7060, they're gonna get a lot of hits but still need to find the correct part for the correct application.
Searching for something seemingly obvious like connector usually wouldn't work well because Ford usually didn't call it a connector in the book and instead listed it as, say, an ELEC. SPADE CONN. ASSY or some such.

So if I found that item for $20, then I would save money doing that. Maybe I need to go back and write the part number for the horn extension harness for dual horns and see if I can just find one made. Probably be cheaper.
