My Sunday evening rant

A little frustrated with Ford tonight. As some of you know, my 6.0 blew up, so I've been trying to depend on my daughters 08 F150, but it's been in my shop or in the dealer for most of the last month. She's spent 2500 bucks trying to get it to idle, it still goes into diesel mode, and they want another 1800 bucks to do the cam sensors on the other side. I read on the 150 forum if you don't do it, the motor might blow up. 4000 bucks on a truck with 65,000 miles on it is ridiculous.
I just changed the power steering pump on it, you have to take the fan and shroud off, the hose came off the old pump with Teflon hanging out of it, spent another 75 bucks and a day waiting for it. Finally got it fired up, and now a cooling line is leaking oil. I just spent 2 hours trying to get the line out of the rad, wrecked my good fuel line tool trying to mod it to get it in there. Looks like they left about 10 thousands of an inch around it for a tool to fit in.
I'm really sick of this stuff, wonder why they have to make their lifelong customers lives so miserable with this crap. I think anybody that becomes a design engineer for a car company should have to spend at least 2 years working in a dealership, fixing this junk.
Ok, I'm done, going to go clean the 6.0 crank up and get it in to check main clearances, that should take about 2 hrs - the bedplate has to be installed, taken off, then reinstalled.

Hey I agree them engineers should have to wrench them

For example
I had an ford escort and Brake Jobs were so Simple no tools required other then get the tire off and maybe something to compress piston back in. It was easy to change and worked Good just pins to pull to change pads

Now take my Ranger what a POS for Brakes
Its got these Slide pins that you drive in to hold the Calupers on. If they are not in there Sweet spot they Bind it took twice as long change

Both are very well doable but the escort was so simple and fast why couldn't they keep a good thing?? No Money in that I guess

I guess they're trying to speed things up on the assembly line. It's way quicker to push to lines into the rad than have to turn it in and tighten it. They probably save close to 30 seconds doing it that way. Then the truck sits in the dealers lot for 6 months before it sells.
I try to work on everything around here - my daughter and her husband are just married, have a new baby, she can't afford to pay the dealership 110 bucks an hour, and pay double for Ford parts, so it's up to me. She paid 30,000 bucks for the truck used about 3 years ago, it only had 55,000 miles, I thought it would be trouble free for years. If the vvt made the engine make 350hp and get 25 mpg I wouldn't be so pi$$ed about her having to cough up 4 grand to make it run right, but it gets about 15 mpg and isn't overly endowed with power. Guess I'll be on the 150 site asking stupid questions in the near future.
Didn't get the crank in, by the time I got the jets in, I was tired and grumpy and came in the house and poured a drink and entertained myself on yellowbullet for an hour.
