Ok I was givin my grandfathers truck it only has 43000 miles I replace the PCM when I first got it. It worked fine now two years of only driving every once in a while no speedometer abs light on and of course hard shift so I thought VSS so replaced it not once but twice I really don't want to replace the cluster cause of the really low mileage what do I need to do
Sounds like maybe the rat ate the wiring from the VSS to the RABS module and PSOM.
It is not likely the PSOM would cause the RABS light to come on other than shorting the wires from the VSS to ground.
Ok well I found a spot where a rat chew thru the wire fixed it now no abs light but still no speedometer does it take time for it to work or ? Now I have a check engine light

Reason: Add info
-- Turn key to RUN (not crank) position while holding down the trip odometer RESET button on speedometer. Release RESET button.
-- Speedometer will prove out (sweep across dial and back). The English/Metric and revision levels will be displayed. The last number of the display is the dealer mode programming lockout count. This count shows the number of allowable conversion constant changes remaining. When the count is zero (0), no additional changes can be made to this instrument cluster.
-- Press and release RESET button again and PSOM conversion constant (without the decimal point) followed by the word CAL.
It still sounds like the like the VSS circuit is still not getting its AC voltage through to the PSOM.
Could be something ate the wiring behind the dash someplace.
You can also check the AC voltage at the RABS plug under the hood.
You would have to put the rear end up on jack stands, block the front wheels and run the rear wheels up to about 30MPH.
Does the voltage increase smoothly and continuously from 0 to approximately 3.5 volts AC as vehicle speed increases from 0 to 30 mph?
I went out to my truck and there isn't a rabs plug under the hood
It won't let me send a picture but driver side near the can where the other plug is there is nothing there idk if it will make a difference but my truck was made 8/95 but is considered a 96 on paper

You will not have the EEC Self-Test plug that was in the photo but you should have the RABS plug.
What is the plug you have in the photo at that location.
