9 mos. ago, purchased used 2007 XLT that looked to be in great shape. After 9 months, I took it into the ford dealer to run a diagnostic test as I has having issues with the 4 wheel drive and a check engine light. I was told that I needed a new engine and the total for all repairs would be $8,000.00.
I immediately drove to another dealer and purchased a used 2013 F150 xlt 4x4 supercab with 23,000 miles. This truck has the 5.0 litre engine flex fuel. It seems to run great and so far, only a week old, I am very excited about it.
Just wanted to know if there are or where any issues with this year vehicle that I should be aware of. I found out that the 2007 had the Triton engine and was nothing but problems.
Redford has given you the first helping hand by pointing you to the proper 2009+ forum. Give a read through these threads. Overall, that's a pretty trouble-free combo you have there.
Also keep in mind you don't need to freak out if you do find someone with a problem in a truck that's similar to yours. You'll find that a lot of people without problems are too busy enjoying thier trucks to post on the web, so the demogrpahics of sites like these are somewhat skewed.
I bought my '13 XLT Screw in February of '13, I am at 18,XXX and I've had no issues whatsoever. Knock on wood. I've done a lot of long highway miles. Moving about 800 miles to DFW in a couple weeks and am not concerned at all. :-)
