I have an 05 that came with a rear sway bar from the factory. I want to upgrade to the presumably beefier size that came on the F250/350.
Any good sources online for one of these ? I assume I dont need the full kit like comes with the Hellwig.

Be careful, the mounts have to match the bar thickness.
From all I've heard, the f-250 and f-350 stock sway bars mount perfectly to the excursion. I'll let you know, I have one enroute as we speak. I should be installing it in a couple of weeks.
I've also heard the Hellwig isn't as rigid as a Ford swaybar; but still dramatically superior to the stock sway bar on the Ex.

Either way; you'll be better off.
Did you get it? Did it fit? What year to look for I have an 02.
Thinking of putting one on.
It's at the greyhound station, waiting for me. But... I'm 600 miles away on a camping trip until Sunday. I'll pick it up on Monday and hopefully get it installed next week.
Ok. I finally got around to installing the sway bar.
Even without the trailer, it tracks down the road so much better. Serious steering confidence!
With the trailer, it's night and day better! All of the away I was experiencing is gone. Poof!!
My suspension expert tells me it's because the trailer wasn't swaying; but the back end of the truck was. The sway-hitch then tries to align the trailer to the backend of the truck; so they both dance a bit.
Now neither dances.
Seriously guys. If you haven't added a beefy rear sway bar yet; GITERDONE!!!

John, that is exactly the situation and results we experienced with our EX and rear sway bar while towing.

Shhhhh, don't say that too loud. A certain someone might hear you and tell you you're wrong, or that you're lying. But don't worry buddy, those of us who understand these things and have EXPERIENCED this situation know how well a rear sway bar can benefit a 4x4 Excursion and make the ride much better for the occupants.

Wow, look, it's yet another testimonial by someone who added a rear sway bar stating the ride is better whether towing a trailer or not. Amazing! Wow....just WOW!

As Tom stated above, this has been well documented for many years in many, many different suspension threads, most that are accumulated in the tech folder.
