E4OD TC not locking....
So before posting, I did do abit of research, and found a couple things to check on an E4OD that the TC doesn't lock on.
The biggest one being the main harness plug on the side of the tranny, well that's nice and clean.
Next is the brake switch.... how do I test those?
The tranny was rebuilt and updated some years ago, it only has 38k miles on the rebuilt. Everything works fine other than the TC not locking at all, doesn't even try to.
It never has locked since i've owned the van either, but only 100% noticed it now that my muffler is gone, couldn't really tell with a full exhaust as it was to quiet inside to know for sure.
Any ideas on what it can be if it's not the brake switch?
FORDF250, can you post the diagnosis procedures for it? I know nothing about the E4OD other than hating them more and more now that I own 2....
I just took the pan off, changed the filter, and exchanged the fluid in it, and added a big cooler to it this morning. Didn't test drive it yet.
And original E4OD died at 188k miles, van now has 226k on it.

drive down the road at 45 mph.the converter should have locked at around 35 mph.
press the hazard lights OR lightly step on the brake pedal.if you opt for the brake pedal, then keep your foot on the accelerator.either of these will unlock the converter.if you notice no difference, then it didn't lock.
this will help you first off to insure if it's locked or not.
next after doing that,i would check the fluid level.if that's right up where it belongs, then next i would move on to insure the brake lights and the brake switch on the brake pedal were good.
after those basics then i would next suspect the solenoid pack plug.the plug behind the heat shield on the pass side of trans.inspect it well for fraying and corrosion..........hold the phone,i wrote this so i wouldn't have to keep explaining it lol:

stop.pause.
the likelihood of it being anything further now gets slim.insure you checked those steps above.double check before moving on.9 times out of 10,a few minutes of light shade tree work with hardly getting the hands dirty should resolve the issue.
if it turns out these are not the issue, then i would next test the solenoid in the pack.if that tested out fine,i would then try to ground the converter lockup wire myself to see if i could manually lock the converter,if i could then i would suspect the TECA isn't telling the solenoid to lock.
if all that checked out, then i would lastly suspect internal trans issues but even those wouldn't be hard to repair.sure the trans would need to be pulled, but hey.that happens when manuals need clutches too.either the converter is worn out,or the little valve is sticking or according to atsg one or two of those seals on the stator shaft could be damaged and cause the issue.all of which are pretty easy to spot once the pump is pulled i suppose.
Ford Trucks for Ford Truck Enthusiasts
So Ford dealer near me, had a TPS in stock when I asked 'em, so why not I bought it, installed it.
Made 0 difference.
How do I check codes if any? I went through real quick a couple E4OD threads, didn't see how to pull codes.
But would there be codes even without an OD light flashing? My OD light never came on. It works if I cancel OD, or it quickly goes on and off when I start the van.
I inspected all my wiring, everything is A-OK. All connections are clean, wires don't look old either, they were probably all replaced when the tranny was rebuilt 45k miles ago.
Witch wire is the TC lock up one? I've heard of the manual TC lock up switch mod. I'll see if I can manually lock it, if so, I'll install a switch for it. I might actually end up liking it alot more that way anyways.
