Port Plates

I jusy bought some port plates for my dove C heads and I was wondering how do you seal them from leaks. the way it looks I will have to use a gasket on both sides of them

The metal is bronze right? Wouldn't they seal themselvees just by being TQ'd down? If not get a set of Felpro gaskets, the ones that are for the individual ports vise the long sets.

if you are talking about the mpg port plates they are to be used AS the gaskets.

I use hi-temp RTV (both sides) to hold the plates in place and provide a seal to the manifold.

I know this has been covered... I am interested in any quantified improvements gained by using these port plates. Anyone out there done a controlled before and after test ?

I took a long hard look at these before deciding to get a set of custom DOVEs. After talking to many 385 racers and guys that specialize in porting 385 heads the consensus was that they coudn't hurt, but your money would be better spent in getting the head worked, which would net you better numbers and negate the need for the port plates in the first place.
