I've been working on a 79 with a 351M that has sit for about 2 years, I got it started off a electric fuel pump but I do not really want to go that way so I put a new mechanical one on it. Now my problem is it will not pump gas to the inline filter that I have up by the carburetor, but about middle ways on the trucks fuel line about where the cab meets the bed I have fuel, reason I know is it was like a Water hose coming out where the line was spliced together. Any thoughts? Also it's got all new fuel line and all seem to be hooked up right etc thanks
The leak in the middle will let air in and the pump can't do any good pulling air. Need to find out what is causing the fuel line leak and fix it first.
It will either be electric or manual .. Electric will be in the same collection of controls as the heater .. Manual will be drivers side of bench seat mounted on floor between door and bench seat
First note the position it is in now .. With fuel in the tank move to the position that you weren't operating on before and see if it fires and also registers fuel on the fuel gauge .. Let it prime itself , crank for a minute or 2 before you give up if it doesn't fire .. If it hasn't been used in awhile the contacts on the switch may be corroded so switch it back and forth maybe 10 times
We'll I tried everything and still no fuel to the carb using the mechanical pump, so I hooked up the electric and it took off using the same lines etc. so I think my next step is too simply install a Electric pump the proper way and go from there. Thanks for all your help.
