Hi Guys,
Starting my research on new tires now. I currently have BFG All Terrain T/A KO's. These were on the truck when I bought it. My only complaint on these is the noise. They seem to be getting louder and louder. I don't go off road except maybe in a campground. I use the truck primarily for towing a 10,000 lb fifth wheel. Been looking at Cooper ATP, and BFG Rugged Terrain T/A. Maybe a HT type tire would be better?
Also should I stay with stock size tire or maybe go to a 285, 295 or 305?
All responses and opinions are appreciated. Thanks, John Decision, decisions!!!
Nitto Dura Grapplers are a 100% HT tire, they should be pretty quiet and have better sidewall strength than the K/Os. Michelin LTX MS2s are another HT option that I've seen several people have good success with. If you really only tow and use the highway, I'd stay in the OEM size and not really consider going larger or to a more aggressive AT. Ice in the winter would become comparatively more problematic with an HT tire because the K/Os have a lot of siping on them, but the Michelin's have similar siping but with continual tread blocks instead of the more linked design of the K/Os. I'd pass on the Rugged Terrains, but Coopers are popular.
