Really like new BF Goodrich AT for road use (and hard dirt use).
I have 325/65 R18....Long wearing and quiet... but had a few that were out of round or unbalanceable! But BFG made good and replaced them N/C.
Check prices at tire distributors nationwide they are expensive,but that seems to be the rule.. you get what you pay for in tires!...

I went with the BFG A/Ts as well, tho I wouldn't consider them a quiet tire. Since you have a 2wd, I'm thinking an all-season or mild AT type tire would be good for you. I've also run Goodyear AT/Ss and they were quiet and wore very well.
Are you looking to go wider than stock? If you are, be aware that you'll likely lose some load capacity as you move up in size, also, even the size tire I'm running is one size too big for the stock 8" rims.
If you are planning on running stock, check sites like Craigslist for deals on take-offs. I sold mine there for $175 for all four and they only had a couple of thousand miles on 'em!
Otherwise, once you narrow it down to a specific tire/size etc. Get prices from TireRack and Discount Tire Direct (there are others too). I ended up buying mine thru Discount Tires Direct and they beat the best price I had found anywhere on the net including shipping -- then they have a cooperative agreement with their stores (Discount Tires or in the West: America's Tires) and will mount/balance for $19.95 each for any tire you buy from their online site.
I just put on some Cooper ATR's. They are E rated and so far it seems to be a good tire. They do have more road noise than the cont's but are also a much more aggressive tire. Time will tell how well they hold up.

I run BFG AT TA's as well. I love the tire. Good traction even in a Canadian winter where rubber damn near turns to steel.
As for longevity, my SCT XCal and my lead foot gets me about 1000 km per set on the rear.
I wil be buying new rubber for the rear and then I will be brand new all around. After this set, I think I am going Toyo Open Country MT's or Nitto Terra Grapplers.
I would go to tirerack on the internet and look around. Even if you don't buy from them, they have a lot of pretty good information on tires. I think it is tirerack.com When I wanted the tires I got (Goodyear Wrangler Silent Armor PGs for the 18" wheels on my 350) They were one of the places I checked. (I was sent to them by my Ford Dealer cause nobody else had the tire) Anyway, I am happy with the Goodyears. They are quiet and so far so good (only 1.5 K) They are not cheap so prepare for sticker shock (at least to my wallet). rc
I found that Costco has Michelins available now a days. They are suppose to be a great highway tire for our trucks. The cost at Costco was much lower than the local discount tire center. Just over 1K out the door, including Nevada sales tax.
THEN, I found that my local dealership has the Michelins, as well as Goodyear tires, that they sell at their cost to customers. You might want to check with your local dealership for a price. You might be surprised. They said that it was a service to customers as a perk for their business.
A set of the Goodyear Wranglers at my local dealership was right around $890 out the door. I can't remember what they quoted the Michelins at, but they were less than Costco.

When I checked with Costco, they would only go with the exact factory size replacement, and they didn't carry them in my size -- they won't even talk about going bigger...
im a bfg fan... but i just bought some new meats and sm still having trouble getting a good set of 4, ive had 1 changed this week and still have a vibration between 65-75 mph? going back sat. to have them checked again, i think the bigger sizes are coming out of production kinda shady!
You are right about that.....You think that for that kind of money for those big 18's they would be correct!
Mine were Comp spun when brand new and on a trip I took I had to go 70 or 90 MPH... anything in between was bad at times,but sometimes it was ok...What is up with that?...I stopped at a Ford dealer on the HWY to have them checked and they said it was smooth! The Service advisor told me maybe it was a pinion bearing clearance! Oh Brother!
I had them load balanced when I got home and they are alot better... Also the tire cutter that makes them round is said to be great,but no one has one near me in CT. They're all in CA.!
I have 325/60R18 Goodyear Silent Armor Pro Grade tires.
Love the tire, rides good, kicks butt in the rain and snow....so far 9500 miles on the tires and they are wearing well, and I take advantage of the free tire rotations.
Keep a close eye on those Goodyears I bought 4 when we were on on our trip to the east coast this July and i only got about 4000 on them before one had a sidewall separation and two others had sidewall blisters had all 4 replaced and Goodyear is going to remburse me for them

I've got a set of ProComp 325/65R18 Xtreme AT's and they have been greatest on my truck. I usually carry a big heavy Camper on the back and these tires handle great with that high-center load.
They have a one way rotation tread design and have 3 ply sidewalls...try em' you'll like em'! Good in the marble, sand and mud.
