Making a connection to the pass through wires for your upfitters?

I remember the crimping processing being a giant paint in the *** when I was making the connection for my fog lights to the pass through wires. Not much room to work there, or perhaps I'm doing something incorrect. What are you using? I'm considering going the Posi-Lock route in the future.

I always solder my connections. Not a lot of room in there to get crimper's etc. Would be nice if those pigtails were a little longer to begin with.

The connectors I had had built in heat shrink, so I had to use the heat gun as well. This should go into the "ONE THING I HATE" thread

Be careful with that heat gun, the Ford wiring harness tape melts at room temperature.

You should always be careful with a heat gun, but thanks for the reminder. It never hurts to put a heat shield behind what you are trying to heat/shrink. Especially working under a dashboard. I guess I kind of take for granted people know this or they should be messing with wiring under a dash or grabbing a heat gun

I took one look in there when I was connecting my fog lights and laughed.I ran the wires through the firewall and used the more user friendly upfitter wires under the dash.I dont know how you guys make the connections in the engine bay but I wasnt even gonna try.How hard would it of been for ford to make the wires 18 inches longer?Oh well

And to think how many fleet trucks, or average owners, etc, that have no intentions for them and will never touch it. They should almost be incorporated in to the up fitter option - pay for aux. switches and get longer pass thru wires. No up fitters, no pass thru wiring.

It's tough but three out of four pass thru's are used and I am thankful to Ford for them
