Mine have been at 165-175 and i have two coolers on it. It uesd to be around 140 all day and then it just jumped up for some reason, also just flushed it for synthetic. Im not sure whats going on
up until two weeks ago i would be 160-170 when 80 outside. Now after the new trans and cooler in sig below, i barely crack 150, even with it being 91 today.
Towing 6000lbs over the weekend in 85 degrees I was 175-190 depending on where I was. Highway was 175-180, side roads 190 or so due to slower speeds etc.
I run an Edge Engine Monitor and have a 6.0 trans cooler. I monitor IAT, Trans T, Oil T and some other parameters. What I have noticed is that you can take the ambient air temp., IAT (unless it is in the 100's) multiply it by two and that is a good ballpark trans. temp. The oil temp. is then approx. 50 deg. higher than the trans. temp. All of these are based upon the engine being at operating temps and not towing anything.
Of course, if the ambient temp. is extremely hot outside this method may then be off possibly on the high side.
