There are some early model year 08 that have the two piece plug design. I believe the Job 1 engines? Someone will chime in or you can do a search. Either way you're lucky, you have a fire breathing, gas guzzling Triton V10. Get a tuner and really start burning that gas. haha.
If you have the Job 1, then you have the two piece. I think if the color of the boots are brown, then it's a Job 1, if they're black, then you have the one piece Job 2 plugs. I could have it backwards though. If you have an 08 and it's a Job 2, you'll need to order your plugs for an 09 or at least I did when I changed mine since they kept giving me the old style. I didn't soak mine overnight, I just drove the truck until it was warm and then changed the plugs. I put some anti-sieze on the threads and torqued them down and called it a day.

If your truck was the later built truck, it will have brown boots and one piece plugs----just changed mine---08' SD w/5.4, 3V V-8--brown boots--one piece plugs--no picnic, but fairly easy---sprayed carb cleaner, blew out holes with air, cracked loose plugs, sprayed carb cleaner to soak around threads, then, they started coming out fairly easy.
I just changed mine as well, 08 brown boots 1 piece plugs, came right out no issues. I changed mine @ 75,000 miles for the first time.
I was a little worried about doing mine---it had 117,000 miles and I am the second owner---I believe this is the first time they've been replaced---still ran perfect. I also changed all the boots.
