I have a 82 F150 that I am wanting to put an amp in later on down the road. Thing is though I dont want to mount it on the floor under the seat nor do I want to mount it on the back of the cab behind the seat. Ideally I would prefer to find one small enough to mount behind the dash.
Ive found some as small as 6"x5"x1 1/2", was rated at 40 watts x 2 channels with a total wattage of 90 watts.
Question is what are my choices for a small amp about the size of the one above that is a two channel and has bass/trebble/volume adjustments I can make.
I am not looking to get super great sound, just want to make my old factory radio sound a little better as well as giving me some bass which the factory radio cant do on its own.
don't limit yourself to a 2-channel amp, you can always get a 4 or 5 channel and just use the front 2 channels or find one that operates in 3-channel mode so you can add a small sub, you have lot's of options..
and, the amplifier should have speaker level inputs that way you don't have to use a line-level converter, when possible it is actually better to use line level inputs because you bypass the preamplifier. adding a line level converter to an amplifier with line level inputs is taking 2 steps forward and 1 step back.

I have thrown around the idea of getting the highliner headliner for theses trucks that come with three to four speakers over head. But at the moment I have just two door speakers unless I go ahead and get a sub to mount in the factory dash location and go with a three speaker set up.
Currently I am trying to find something that uses wire inputs vs RCA, we do the wired to RCA converters and they take up extra room having those converter boxes.
I will check out all thoses amps that are listed on that site though. Looks like more than I was finding when I checked out Rockford last night.
in the old days the only one that would have a bass, treble control would be a power booster. better to get a indash stereo with rca outs for a amp. even a old cd indash player would have the rca connections. get for $10.00 used. as for the amp, well there are plenty of small ones on ebay for cheap.
well i guess thats one way of mounting your stuff. easy access. it would be interesting to hear it. wonder if it will damage your hair follicles and make you go bald.

I'm willing to bet it's loud but that's about it..
some day when i have my seat forward ill take a pic of mine. i have three amps behind the seat, never had any problems. two JL Audio 8" subs. i find its all about getting it dialed in. like a home speaker, all three speakers in the cabinet have to work together, each by itself might not sound good at all, but together they sound great.
