Just wanting to see if anyone out there has upgrading there electrical wiring or fuse panel from the old glass fuses to a new style box. If so what steps did you take to do so? Is there much added benefit to this upgrade?
There is no benefit from a functional perspective. The risk and work required to do this outweighs the benefit of it being easier to replace fuses. You should hardly ever be replacing fuses anyway. In most cases, fuses only blow when someone does something stupid. Don't do stupid things, and you'll barely ever touch the fuse panel.
Reason I ask is because I'm going to be adding some modern features such as power windows, new power seats, good audio system and a few other electrical things so I thought it may be worth upgrading the fuse panel but I guess you answered my question and I'll just leave it be
You could do like I did and add another fuse/relay box under the hood for additional circuits. I used one out of an Escort to supply power to my electric fan, headlight upgrade, fog lights, etc.
I agree with C-anus... Add an auxiliary box... You can probably find a new box at NAPA for a few bucks so not sure if going to the J-Y would be worth it.
