Programmer question?

I am considering purchasing a programmer for my 2008 F-450. To be used mostly for driving around when i need better mileage. Power isnt a problem. I have read up on a few Bully Dog, Edge. They all look to be good unit's.

My question is. Is it safe to tap into the original program with one of these. Or should i stay away from them. And which type, and model do you recommend.

Thank you so much in advance,

If you have a diesel stay away from anything but the SCT..... BD will destroy your tranny.

And it's unlikely you'll recover the cost of the tuner with fuel savings. Plus, more power seems to make the right foot heavier also.
