Wow Glenn. That's impressive. Maybe I will move the filter up on my list.

Yea, I was shocked when I saw that. This is the second one at about 10K.

Looks like I might want to reorganize the "Project List" with the coolant filter at the top of the list now.

I am doing the filter for longevity reasons, although I am going to have to start looking for another cab and frame at the rate it is rusting!

Glenn, do you have a link for the swap/mod to the IH pump? If I understand correctly there's some minor grinding involved, maybe a new T-stat, some fittings an O-ring, some hoses and voila... I'm one of those visual learners, lecture never did chit for me...

I'll be honest guys.

I have a bypass on mine and it collects a ton of ****.

I'm putting the IH pump on.
I'm leaving my bypass on as well.

Do you use a precharge filter on the bypass?

Question

Glenn, that filter seems a wonder: The Penray Need-Release® Extended Life Cooling System Treatment filter is much more than just another cooling system filter. It goes beyond just filtration by releasing Supplemental Coolant Additive (SCA) when your engine needs it. This unique system senses the corrosivity of the coolant and releases the correct amount of treatment to keep your cooling system protected at all times.

Do you know IF it can be use in the "traditional" aftermaket coolant system, like the other one you had installed and like mine? (see the Alex pic, its different than the ours tho) (thread, lenght, etc?) ?
You can see mine in the post#2 here:

My understanding of how the pre-charged filters work is the particulates are already soaked into the filter material and as coolant flows through the filter it can pick up what is needed. It won't take any more into circulation if the coolant is at its 'capacity' (I can't think of the technical term right now). Again that is my understanding. I recall there being a thread somewhere (PSN IIRC) regarding the pre-charged filters.
Basically if you are using full concentrate of coolant that is pre-charged when you do your flush. You won't have to worry about SCA for a little while.
I didn't even remove the block plugs, but knowing the capacity is 8 gallons. You know that if you add 4 gallons of pre-charged concentrate and then top it off with distilled water that you will have about a 50/50 mix.

Yes Jose you can use pre-charged filters on a bypass system. The bypass system I had circulated quite a bit of coolant.
Actually the IH water pump is a bypass filter setup as well. If you look at the ports on the pump you will see the filter part isn't in the direct path of flow, that way it won't hinder cooling if you neglect filter replacement.
