Silveratars were always slightly brighter than OEM. However they don't last long. Even says so on the package. I replaced them about once a year.
You can get Hella hulbs (only for 2005+ trucks) or Phillips Xtreme bulbs for about 1/2 the cost and they are just as bright.
Right now I am running 'Lifetime LED' led bulbs. Much brighter than any halogen bulb I've used, and more reliable than HIDs. More pricy than halogens at around $130-150 for a quality set.
Use the same type of bulb that you would normally use. For example an H13/9008. Consult your owners manual or aftermarket bulb guide for proper bulb type.

The Philips are great. They're almost as good as HIDs without the ridiculous glare, inexpensive, and legal. No problem with them burning out like the Silverstars.
