Sheet metal for tool box
What is a reasonable price on the sheet metal off the bed for the bedside toolbox?
I was able to pull the plastic inner box and lid but didn't have a sawzall for the sheet metal.
And I was surprised by the price difference for the lid and box and then what he wanted for the sheet metal.

Pricing one out is kinda difficult cuz it's not a "normal" replacement part like a fender. I figure a complete toolbox sectioned from a donor would run btwn $75 and $100.. plus shipping.
Sawzall? Get a battery-powered DeWalt. I got one as part of a four-piece, 18 volt set (sawsall, drill driver, impact driver, and a flashlight). The yards I visit don't provide electricity and no gas-powered anything is allowed.
It has come in very handy already... I didn't bring it with me last time and I found a light bar off a tow truck... but the nuts were welded on the mounting bolts. ARghh! Went home, ate lunch, and went back for it. Five minutes later and it came home with me for $40.

Depending on the shape of the bedside, I could see it getting a little pricey.
Think about it this way. Once you cut the sheet metal, the bedside is no longer a complete usable piece. Now, if the bedside is already trashed, they might be just raking you over the coals.
