Hi I recently installed some new headlights that have LEDs for DRLs. I have a non stock bumper so the factory fogs are gone. I wired my LEDs into the factory fog wires thinking that would be the easiest.
My question is, when the headlight switch is in auto mode the LEDs won't come on until the headlights switch on at night even though the **** is pulled out to have the fogs on. Can fog lights not be turned on while the light switch is in auto mode?
From what I have noticed if the headlight switch is in auto then they come on automatically when the sensor shows that it is dark enough to need lights, not to turn on when you start the vehicle. I know some cars lights come on when running if equipped with automatic, doesn't seem to be the case with these monsters. I am sure that if you covered the sensor with something they would work that way. Just an idea.
That is strange Stewart. On my phone the work **** is censored in my and your posts. Anyway, if I wanted to run my LEDs as DRLs, and also have my headlights in auto mode, what is the best way to wire them up?
Does anyone have pictures of how they tapped into the existing light wires to do that?
Or would it be better to run new wires through the firewall and through a switch to an empty fuse socket?
What year is your excursion? My 2002 auto **** pulls back to activate the fogs separate. You may have a different switch depending on the year. I drive with my fog light always on as a daytime running light.
It's an 03 EB edition 7.3L. The strange thing is that when it is in auto mode and the switch is pulled out to turn on the fogs, the little light lights up indicating that they are on. But they are not on. They work great when the switch is in on or park mode and when it is dark enough to turn all lights on in auto mode.
So your 02 can run the fogs in auto mode during the day? Mine should be exactly the same as yours.
