I had a couple different vibrations in my 03 E250. I knew the front brakes were bad when the steering wheel shook when braking. Also the rear brakes were warped. The van also developed a violent shake when braking only from 30 to 20 mph.
I went ahead a replaced all the rotors and pads, new wheel bearings in the front. All new brake hardware on all the wheels. When i was finished with that my ABS light came on. I tested the sensors and found out it was a front drivers side sensor and replaced that... Light has now gone off. I replaced the front two tires. The rears that were still good and they were re-balanced.
The braking over all is great and smooth but it still remains that the van will shake only when on the brakes between 30 and 20mph. Above and below that speed is great.
I checked the transmission fluid and it is fine. Rear Axel oil is fine too. Not sure what to look for next. I was able to check the output transmission speed sensor and it checked out fine as well.
Any suggestions?
My vote is that you could have something wrong with the ABS Module itself ....But I am not an expert in that....just a guess...since you replaced everything else....
I have tried disconnecting the battery to re-set any codes and the computer. It has not made a difference. There is still no warning or error light on currently on the dash and the "vibration" is still there.
I am not sure about the ABS module either as there is not a whole lot posted on that and I don't know how to test it. I would think it would show a code if it was not functioning properly but I guess you never know. May have to take it in to see if I can get a through scan done.
