Smoking

I have an 04 f250 with the 6.0 and have about 191,000 miles. The last couple of days I have noticed alot of white smoke and at times black smoke. Also seems like lack of power off the line. Could it be bad injectors ( I have never replaced them since ive owned the truck at
50,000 miles.) No major repairs have had to be done to the truck yet. Im sure it is about to catch up with me though. I did resolder the point on the FICM, could that be the issue again?

Very well could be the ficm. Check voltage and see what it is.

I dont have any gauges but I think the last time I used a multimeter. How do I check it with that. If I remember correctly it has to be 48v right, I just don't remember what points to check

Yes should be 48v, anything under 46 I would be sending it in to get repaired. Check the pin closest to the d fender if it is the four pin ficm.

Check out the Tech folder it is in there, or get a ScangaugeII or equivalent.

When pulling my travel trailer today home from camping when going up a few hills seemed like a lack of power and it actually died on me three times. I got it started each time and finally got going good on the highway for our hour and a half ride back home without it dieing. Going to check out the voltage on the ficm in the morning.

I kinda did some checking on the FICM and this is what I got.
With the key in the on position I got 47.7 vdc
With the truck cranking I got 47.8 vdc
So is it safe to say the FICM is ok,

You really want to buy a scangauge2 or other odb2 gauge reader, like an app for your smartphone and an odb2 bluetooth adaptor.

You need live data! While driving, starting, idling, etc. So many threads explaining all the values you watch to check ficm, alternator, oil temp, coolant temp, trans temp, batteries, injector oil pressure, turbo vanes, etc..

Plus you can move it to another vehicle! The factory 'gauges' are useless... Except boost.

Need live data, but for shooting in the dark, clean the IAT2, EBP, MAP sensors and the EGR valve. With the EBP and the MAP, make sure to clean the hoses coming from them all the way back to the manifold, they can clog with soot. Then crank the engine with the black wire running near the passenger side fender near the hood shock. It will have a black connector you can unhook and touch it to the positive battery post. Listen for a consistent and even crank. If it is uneven you may have a base engine problem. There is a code stored in the PCM also, go to autozone and get it read.

I borrowed a friends OBDII reader and no codes came up. The line coming off the vac pump was broken. I reattached it. Would that cause any issues? What is the IA2, EPB and where are the located. I know where the EGR valve and MAP sensor are. Thanks guys.

I posted two pics in the earlier post. One of the looks to be on the fender well on the passenger side, and the other is on the passenger side by the ICP

Ebp (exhaust back pressure) is located near the thermostat housing. There is a small metal line running from the drivers side exhaust manifold to the sensor. The IAT2 (intake air temp #2) is located behind the oil/fuel filter housing on the intake.
