There are knowledgeable "460 engine" people that speak well of the Torquer II manifold. Do a search on the 460 forum if you care/have-time.
Such as "I liked my Torker II on my dually better than the Stealth. But the stealth might be just a nats but better with a load and hauling a trailer.
Stealth also needed twice the accelerator squirt than the Torker. Torker actually pulled away better with a empty truck like 1000 rpm in 4 would pull away with no spark knock. Stealth has trouble with that.
4th gear runs from 40 to 80 much better with torker II. "
I don't have any first hand experience with this manifold, however as I said, I would go with a dual-plane manifold as my first choice for a truck build.
Nope. BUT, who knows what errors there might be on this one. So, turn it over - does it say China? If not, on the top do you have Weiand twice? The firing order? I don't know if the US-made 8012 had those things, but the 8010 for the 400 did.
Let me restate the situation. Here's a comparison between the "old" and "new" Weiand 8010's:
US-made:
Says Weiand on two runners, one in the front and one in back
Has the firing order cast on top
Has relatively rectangular ports
Has a small heat-riser passage
Chinese-made:
Says China on the bottom
Has a large flange on the front that covers part of the thermostat opening and completely covers one of the bolt holes
Has oval ports
Has a huge heat-riser, much larger than any manifold I've seen
So, having not seen an "old" 8012 I can't tell you what a "new" one will look like. Given that, in your shoes I would find someone that has an old one and compare them. If that someone is distant from you then get pictures. Or, send it back and buy a made-in-the-USA Edelbrock.
It's not a "fake", Holley is now manufacturing in China.
Call them "new stock" and "old stock" if you like, but be clear that neither manifold is not counterfeit.
Actually, we don't know that. Weiand has not said boo about this, one way or another. Tim had to turn to vendors that had .... good ones in stock and bought them. And Weiand hasn't asked for this one back.
So it is possible that someone made a knock-off, which was why I said it that way. I recently saw a report on how many things we are buying are actually knock-offs and it was staggering. Right down to the boxes and instructions.
Is the front water outlet threaded? The one parallel to the water pump outlet.
or did it come with a plug of some sort. On my stealth I had to "thread in" a plug to block that outlet. Your manifold doesn't look like the hole is threaded (maybe its just the photo).
86 - Just because the 8010 had Weiand on the top twice doesn't mean the 8012 did. And the folks in China appear to be proud of their country and put "China" on many things they make, so yours probably isn't.
CB - Does yours have Weiand on it twice? Does it look just like 86's?
