Side Mount Tool Box
Anyone ever mount a side mount tool box without drilling into the bed floor for the support legs? There are "J" hooks for the rails but there are legs that are supposed to be drilled into the floor.

If you run certain ladder racks, the boxes will mount solely to the racks and sort of "hang" if you will. I had a setup that was a full tubular steel rack with angle iron down the bed rails, and then there were steel plates welded to those bed rail caps onto which two side boxes bolted. A specific rack company that has component based side boxes is System One, in my opinion they are by far the cleanest looking setup out there, although the caveat is that you need the rack.

Ladder rack is the only way I've seen it done. It was done by a local shop, he bolted through the box, railcap, then under the rail, then sideways out from the box to strap coming off the rail cap. I want to say it was 6-8 bolts through the rail caps down each side, they were 60" Weatherguard steel boxes that weighed a ton, ~100# each. I don't think it would have worked without the rack going across the front and back of the bed to add stability, but they were rock solid to where I could stand on them without anything moving.
