I am selling my truck. A couple came today and the rear brake line burst during the test drive. Talk about fantastic timing
Anyways, the line is spraying fluid with every press, spraying it up near the top of the gas tank. I can see the spray, but not the leak without pulling the spare tire I think.
Anyways, these repairs are beyond me. Taking it to the mechanic later today. He said on the phone it should be cheap. Any idea what cheap means?
Any idea how long it should take him to make the repair? I imagine the brake line is cheap, hoping the labour is under an hour...
(it is in my signature, but I should clarify ('99 F250 SD)
In the Washington DC area cheap seems to mean anything less than $300-400 my wife's 03 got front line done for just under $300 but it happened over 50 miles from home, so unless I wanted to lay in a parking lot somewhere and haul all my tools, it was worth it her.
Called a couple shops. The one close to me didn't give me a price, but said shop rate is $88/hr. Also called Budget Brake and Muffler and they said its about $150 all in. Some checks online show as cheap as $60 all in, but I have a hard time buying that, seems too cheap.
That will all depend if the shop does it the right way and drops the fuel tank, or does it the backyard way and slides a new tube next to the tank with removing it allowing it to flop around a little.
