I am getting ready to replace my A/C hose assembly, any special instructions that I would need to know about installation? I have new gaskets and O rings. Just want to make sure I'm not missing anything?
And Yes, this is my first time changing this out. Its for a single alternator on my 6.0L F250 2006.
Since the system is open I'd also change the orifice tube and dryer ***. at the same time and don't forget to vacum the system down for at least a couple of hours. If the system has been empty for a very long time I would let it vacum overnight. You need 28" of vacum on the system.
2 hours max on vacuum. The moisture boils out relatively quickly.

Just going by the recommendations of my ole AC college prof. Before charging I would also close off all valves and turn off the pump to see if it holds the vacum. Easier than finding out you have a leak after charging it.
So, here is what's going on. I took it to a dealership about 4 months ago, they said that the AC hose assembly needed to be replaced. and quoted me $700.00, I asked around and can get it done for about $400.00. I asked the dealer to just recharge and see how long it lasted. it only last two months. I recharged it again to make sure, and it lasted two months again. There is dye coming from the screw top valve on the hose by the radiator and maybe from another section slightly(but hard to tell without taking it off), so If I need to change the orfice tube? do I really need to change the Drier too? I am trying to save money, but want to do it right.
If your referring to the schrader valve leaking you can see if it will tighten. If it still leaks you can replace it for a couple of bucks but the system will still need recharging.
Update...So we drained the system, changed out the schader valve on the High Port and changed the O ring just off the drier hose. vacuumed the system out and then recharged. Everything is good for now, I will see how long it lasts and then go from there.
