You guys are too kind. I am a stubborn and rebellious fart who refuses to be taken advantage of. I'll doggone do without and "make my own" before I cave into the kind of stealership approach we faced this weekend. My son has seen me do this time and again, and he is definitely seeing the benefit of patience, "making do", and the overall DIY mindset, and he is excited about continuing to grow in that way of thinking himself.
He also saw me last night help him spec out a new set of shocks for his truck, and since he is earning and paying for all repairs, he was very happy to see me end up locating a $12 savings on the set of 4 shocks by taking 10 extra minutes to scour the "discount coupon" and "promo codes" web sites until we found the lowest cost available. For him, that $12 represents at a half hour of labor in his lawn business, and he is proud to save every penny he can.
