I did myself a disservice by not verifying what carburetor I have on my (1972 F250 390 Auto C6) truck before ordering a carb rebuild kit. This morning I checked on my newly arrived truck and it turns out my carb is in fact not an Autolite 2100 like I had assumed. I have a Holley. I can't figure out which one it is (I know it has to be stock though) and I can't find a tab anywhere on it. Which kind of Holley is it? And are there well known rebuild kits for it? I will get some pictures up of it soon, bear with me I've got a lot of things going on.
Thank you! Wow that website is so easy and awesome. Yes I completely failed to say, it is indeed a 2 barrel. Here are some pics. Got it all figured out, thank you HIO!
Here is the dang zip tie. What the heck man. Oh well, I'll fix this. What is it doing here, holding the choke open?
If you end up getting 7-8 mpg you may want to think about going to a autolite carb where you can run much smaller main jets like #52-54's as every little bit helps when the piece of gas is over 4 bucks a gallon.
But if your young and have a need for speed and gas money is no big deal then
you'll be happy with that big cfm 2 barrel Holley carb..
Thanks so much for the info and tips, guys! Yeah for sure right now I'm going to rebuild it and see how that goes with my money and driving style, and I'll consider an autolite to save cash. Also, that holley website doesn't have the kit available so I'll have to call unless anyone knows of another seller. O'Reillys website has been crapping out on me lately
Holley and Ford list their jet numbers differently. So a Holley 73 is not the same as a Ford 73. You can try...say....#71 jets. If you do, run it a bit and check your spark plugs. Make sure it's not runnnig too lean. 500's have bigger bores so they require bigger jets. Holley's have a stronger power curcuit than an Autolite. Better for hauling and towing. 2X Orich on the mileage.
Okay cool, thank you for letting me know about the jets. Also, I checked that Holley website again and it gave me a different kit number that's available.

Is there a problem with using different numbered kits or will either work? I'm not trying to cheap out but I'm making sure I get the right one
That kit will fit but IMHO I wouldn't use it. The gaskets in those aftermarket kits are glorified cardboard. Lawd knows what the rubber parts are made out of. I Binged the above Genuine Holley kit part number I posted and numerous places popped up. Fix it right now. Holley's gaskets won't seep. Trust me.
Feels good to order it from Holley themselves, plus it's cheaper than Summit it looks like. Thanks again for all the help! Hopefully by the end of next week I'll be driving myself to work and back and I can rebuild my carb at work on a Saturday or something.

There ya go. Even though the pic they used is for a 4v, this is the correct part number. And the bowl and metering plate gaskets you get will be the same coated reusable blue ones like in this pic. Ya might consider buying the same float your ad shows that other people have bought. Those 4412's came with a hollow brass float. Eventually they end up with a pinhole leak in them and then don't work correctly. The black one pictured won't ever do this.
