Question hesitation when first accelerating

I get a big hesitation after letting off then accelerating.

For example in heavy traffic I let off a little to keep my distance from the car ahead then accelerate to make a pass and I get zero for a second or two then it comes on. Its like the engine died.

Anyone else have this experience. Is this normal for a powerstroke?

I noticed my truck does the same thing. I was also thinking it was just turbo lag.

Acceleration lag is honestly my only complaint about my 6.7 '17KR. My experience comes from deleted '03 6.0 KR that would shock passengers as to how quickly it would accelerate into freeway traffic or open road acceleration. I'm hoping the EZLINK adopters will chime in, although I know they're waiting for trans tunes, but does this mod improve acceleration? My current work around is to gear down prior to on ramp access. Coming from an F-150 EcoBoost, I'm used to it. I always spin up the turbo just before hitting the hammer. Just something I'm used to.

I’ve had the same experience but now that someone has mentioned turbo lag I think that may be he cause for me. In the past it seemed like I’d put my foot on the gas and I’d hesitate a few seconds.

It is a combination of turbo lag and factory torque management.

Mine was the same way. I installed the Pedal Commander and it’s night and day different. No hesitation at all super quick throttle response and you can adjust it according to how you drive.

Problem resolved

Follow up
I took my truck for some warranty items before the 36,000 mark.
They said there is a update version for the PCM. I picked it up today and tested it and no more hesitation or bog.
Problems solved !!!

They also replaced both of my batteries and the hold downs due to leaking.
I told them I had several incidents of death wobble and they replaced what they said was a worn track bar.

I have the same issue with my 19, not turbo lag. I get to experience every morning going up a 18 percent incline. Slow down from 35 for a corner with trans in 4th and no throttle response coming out of the corner. You either keep adding throttle and wait for it to over compensate or back all the way out and start over with the gas pedal.

The Pedal commander fixed all my lag problems. I won’t drive without one anymore.
