A lot of people have 4 speeds and 4x4 levers that are in the way. And there is often that place and time once in awhile when 3 people need to ride in a regular cab. Things to think about. Also don't forget to release the seat and let it go all the way forward before you start your design.

I have a console in my 82, thing is though its a fold down console as I have a newer style bench seat that bolted in ontop of the oem seat tracks. I have been thinking about switching back out for a oem bench but think I will stick with this.

I have a factory Ford one in my truck. It is an automatic 4X4, but I know a shifter wouldn't be in the way if it had one, (had one in my other '86 standard cab with 4X4).
Now if you're talking about have one that goes past the seats towards the firewall...don't know what to tell you there. Probably have to make your own out of wood and then wrap it in vinyl.
