'42 Truck

Hi everyone, it must be a while since I was here last. Anyway work on the truck
continues, I'm thinking a dump body would be the go.... Dad had Ford dump trucks.... Now the plan is to paint the 'ol girl in original colors, black fenders and
green cab... with a bit of chrome and stainless here and there. The dump body
will have to look period correct , so I've been looking around the web to see the
style.
I'm not going to be a commercial operation so I thought one of those electric /
hydraulic kits would be good.... maybe a 5 ton multistage ram.
The interior will be painted hammer tone gray with black buttoned vinyl inserts
in the gray upholstery.
What I'm contemplating at the moment is battery box / toolbox...... got to have
a wheel brace jack and a rope ! Now , I've come across a Peterbilt battery box,
I think I can make this work... it will look OK too with a few mods. The dash panel will be powder coated silver.
Here's a few photos of how she stands now.
Steve.

Very nice job you are doing! Your tilt front end lines up better than my factory job. I love that front bumper and the running boards. Refresh us on what you are running for a powerplant.

Hi guys, power is 221 cu'' 24 stud, crank, pistons, liners are NOS. I fitted an 8BA
cam (ground to a Lotus spec.... cam mob reckoned this is the GO....) Anyhow
8BA front cover, read Tex Smith's & Frank Oddo's books..... so SBC distributor
regraphed for a Flathead, SBC stainless valves, adjustable lifters, Edelbrock
94 carb. 70 amp alternator. Transmission is original 4 speed crash box, diff is
original 5.83 :1.
Saving hard to have her in paint by this time next year.
Cheers, Steve.

Figured it had to be a flatty given the dual water temp gauges in the dash panel. Nice truck.
