Normally I would just go to Checker, NAPA, or Autozone and buy one of these--I think Anco was the last brand I bought that was an OE replacement. I haven't checked to see if any of these chains carry them now. However, I need to order some other parts from Motorhaven, DC, or *** and will have shipping pretty well covered. So my question is, is there a difference in quality on these windshield washer pumps or they all pretty much the same except for price to me?
Thanks.
Joe
I ordered mine from Mac's and they sent me an Anco unit. Fits perfect, works good, and I didn't have to go hunt for it. With shipping, it was about $20.
OK,
Checker -- Trico $14.99
Pep Boys -- Trico $14.99
NAPA ------ Balcamp $17.99
AutoZone-- Taap(sp) $14.99
I only inspected the Trico at Checker and decided to purchase it even though it didn't seem as substantial as the older Anco unit I was replacing because it had started leaking. I compared the Trico with the picture in Dennis Carpenter catalog and it looks the same to me. Was tempted to look at the NAPA unit (Balcamp) but since the picture was the same, I am thinking they may all be the same but with different brands stamped on the box.
This is all part of my penny wise and pound foolish mentality. I have saved many pennies and have flushed many pounds down the toilet!
I installed the Pump and yes it pisses like a race horse(make that two race horses)!
I put powdered graphite all over the inside of the hole for the pump and on the pump gasket itself as the instructions from Trico ask you to do. Seems like I remember this also being the case for the Anco unit that this one is replacing. I put dielectric grease on the plug before connecting and replaced the hose from the tank to the distribution point for the windshield. I did most of this with the tank removed from the fenderwell and then put it back in place with the two sheet metal screws that mount it.
