Engine replacement question

I just got a fairly good shape 1999 v10 250 with a seized engine, will a 2001 v10 replace it as a direct bolt in or will I need the harness/computer and all that to make it work? I have tried searching for a while now but my internet is slow and with no obvious answers being forthcoming over the past couple hours I decided to just ask more knowledgable people

Thx for any help!

Yes it will fit. Manually check the oil pressure on replacement engine and crankshaft end-play before going through all the work of exchange to then find out.

Mightymoose,

I can't speak to the 2001, but when I did my body swap between a '97 and a '99 E350, I found that the engine harness used needed to be that of the body/ECU van rather than that of the chassis donor van.

I tried using the '99's engine wiring plugged into the '97's wiring harness and found that the pin outs are completely different. I had to pull the engine wiring off of the '97's engine and install it on the '99's and it worked perfectly.

So, I would say, whatever you are doing, use the complete wiring that belongs with the vehicle that it is being installed in.

Good luck.
