Which is why I apply the 90 cent theft deterrent. Thanks for telling the rest of the world how to steal my tailgate. Please delete your entire post. I will edit mine as soon as you do. Thanks!
seriously HA HA HA you are worried that this post is going to tell people how to remove your tailgate? you really need to get serious if a person doesnt know how to get a tailgate off he ethier wont or he will destroy it trying, besides i dont know if a 90 cent piece of whatever is going to stop anyone
Nope. It is a good idea to add a bit of grease in the 2 installation holes every so often to prevent rust but on a factory gate, the metal is quite strong and the spring is designed with ample material to spread the load. BTW the reason it becomes harder to remove the tail gate is that with the spring, It's like doing a puzzle while weightlifting...

LOL, I didn't realize this was such a big secret. I figured this was common knowledge for all truck owners.
Anyone that can change a flat tire should be able to figure out how the tailgate comes off.

You can't be serious?!? The tailgate are know to FALL OFF these trucks if driven around with them down, And if you look on here I am sure there has to he a half a dozen threads on how to remove a tailgate. Besides, it is not like he is putting a magnet on your truck with a sign saying
"My tailgate comes off in 10 seconds, here are the directions how to"
As for your $0.90 theft deterant, it works the 1st time, the next time the thief will be prepared with a FLAT BLADE SCREWDRIVER and take 15 seconds to remove your gate.
If you want a real lock, McGuard and Pop n Lock have LOCKs for the gate
i bet who ever said = thanks for letting everyone know how easy it is to remove a tailgate for a thief, is regretting it. besides a thief could of just as easy looked online to see how its done, that is if he was looking to steal a tailgate. ive never heard, or seen, of a tailgate falling off while being down, but then i myself havent ever drive with mine down. ive loaded material in my truck and left it down but that was to only back up 30 or so feet. but iit is interesting to know that it has happened. ill be aware of that from now on.
by the way, the only bad review ive found, on amazon, is that some one put there kit on and it put a dent in the outer tailgate shell, dont know how that happened but he claims it did.
