Installing a Tow package
I have a 2001 F150 Supercrew and I'm trying to install an electric trailer brake and 7 pin harness adapter @ the bumper. The instructions for both the brake and 7-pin are very vague. I need to know what the wiring diagram is at the rear and under the dash are so I can hook them up. Also is there a prewired harness for the trailer brake and where is it. I tried a Haynes manual but it didn't have the diagram I was looking for. Thanks

Look under the dash just above where your right knee would be. If there is a 6 **** female connector there, then there should be wiring for the brake. The male part of the plug came in the glove box of trucks that had the tow package. It also came with 2 relays for under the hood, 1 for trailer running lights and one for 12v power for say a winch or something.

You'll be much better off getting the ford harness for your truck. THere is no need to splice in any wires on the newer f150's.
