Well folks I've hit the point where I need to ask what I'm doing wrong. The truck is an '87 F250 6.9 new style glow plugs / controller.
I went to do the 3G alternator swap as my battery light had been flickering on and off ever since I got the truck. Got the connector from a 3.8 Taurus and alternator from a 1994 3.8 Windstar. Wired everything up as shown here https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...3-92-idis.html
Still got the battery light coming on but now it's on solid. I've got the alternator tested at Autozone and it's good. I checked all my connections and they're good after replacing my connections to and from the megafuse.
I decided to put a bolt in the back of the case and run a grounding strap to the body just to be sure!
Still, the light stays solid and I'm getting ~11.6V at the battery. Any ideas? I've gotten a lot of people saying I'm probably not getting it grounded...
Do you have the S terminal of the regulator plugged into the alt?
Is the A terminal going to the starter solenoid main lug along with the output wire of the alt?
I'm getting 11.6V regardless of revving or idle. It's seems like the alternator isn't charging or doing anything.
Yes the jumper clip is plugged in from the S terminal. The A wire is run to the charging post. The cable from the charging post goes directly to the battery positive rather then the starter solenoid.
