OT Mustang post for NumberDummy

Tried to PM you, Bill, but I guess you gave it up.
Anyway, here I am back for some more Mustang help. Anyone else that can help is welcome to chime in.

I have a customer's '66 Convertible with a 6 cyl 3 speed drivetrain. Customer wants to convert to an automatic.
I bought a used C4 that's supposed to be a 6cyl trans, but the bolt pattern where it bolts up to the motor is different than the manual trans. that was in the car.
I've been doing some looking and apparently there's a couple of different bolt patterns for the 6 cyl engine, but it's very confusing to me. Here's what I have:

original 3sp bell housing:

C4 I bought:

Original spacer plate held up to "new" trans:

As you can see when I line any one hole up, none of the others match. Also the manual trans used a 2 bolt starter and the auto is set up for a 3 bolt starter, not to mention the difference in location.

Anyway, I need a bell housing for a C4 that'll bolt to the bigger bolt pattern on my block.

Is this possible? Surely some of these things came from the factory with a 6 cyl and an automatic. There must be the part# for the correct bell housing out there somewhere.

Anyway, if you'd prefer to get this off the forum, my email is vvvintage@hotmail.com

Thanks for the help you've given me in the past and anything you can do for me now.
