Expect about 7 mpg, 10 - 13 if it's tuned well and you drive it like a nun, I bet it probably screams at highway speeds, 3/4 ton axles with I'll guess 4.10's, small tires and a C6.
Back to work on my truck. I want to lower it 2-3". Will the 77-79 front springs fit on early highboy frames? On the SD Spring website it looks like the dimensions are basically the same, except for the weight rating. And then.....the front axle needs to be moved back to center better in the opening. The center bolt is offset 1-1/2" to the front. Anyone know of a reason why the spring can't be turned around?
Get rid of the body lift (or as much as possible) and pull some of those leafs enough to let the axles articulate. You can probably feel a dime on the road with that many leaves :P
Maybe pull the lift blocks and use lower spring hangers to take up any lift lost. Looks like what is there has been bolted from another truck anyway, and you can see the rust spots where the originals went.
That should help with the excessive height, drive shaft angle, and on road enjoyment without getting your kidneys and spine hammered on every pebble and dime.
Back at it, have the diesel, 5spd and Tcase installed. Also have the 2 leaf front springs in place. The truck is setting pretty level now, but the the old Dana 44 still looks like it's aiming at the dirt, not sure how critical the caster angle is on these axles, but thought I should try to get it right. Does anyone know the proper angle for the differential? PO didn't know much, but thought (and seems to be right) that the frame and drivetrain were from an early hi boy. Any help much appreciated.
