You mentioned air brakes in another of your threads. Have you inspected the linings, cans, lines and tanks?
As for the starter, why do you think it's bad?
Do you have an auto electric shop near by? They would rebuild starters or may be able to swap you out with a reman.
You might also try Napa, but you'll have to explain what you are doing or they will get you a starter for an F350. Some stores are better for trucks like this than others.
So this was not running when you bought it?
What are the tires like?
What is the GVWR?

I'll check on the starter for ya (nothing special with those) been awhile
since I set my butt in one of those, but my mind is seeing a three bolt
Bendix style. Strong chance it needs a good cleaning. My mind sees
a typical 430 Lincoln Mercury starter, which we use to say those 477 534s
were blow out 430s where as the 401 534 were derived from....
I got the genuine books on these I'll check.
