For the last few days, when I start up the starter has been chirping just as the engine catches. This morning when I got up, I got something that sounded like a pterdactyl and no start. I think that the clutch on the starter is gone, but I need to know if there is anything I can do besides buy a new one. I ain't got no $$$$, I'm late for work and I can't stand driving my wife's go-cart while she looks at me with that "why did you buy such an old pos" look.
Call around and and talk to truckers and see if you can find a big rig starter shop, because some of them can rebuild your starter for much cheaper than a new starter, but you'll need to look and see if you have the mitsubishi starter or the Denzo
Problem solved, when I went to work on the starter, I found the problem wasn't the starter. A few days ago when I got up at 4 in the morning, there were 3 kids and an older guy parked across my driveway, when they saw me they took off like scalded cats. Sooo, the starter had 2 loose bolts and the ground wire was almost cut through. I'm not sayin they wuz tryin ta steal it er nuthin, but they were driving an old ford like mine...but it was a gasser, so my starter wouldn't have worked anyway.
