I probably know the answer to this but I am stubborn and the vast majority of you members know ALOT more than I do....
I own a 2000 Ford Excursion with the 7.3 diesel. Build date was 13/12/99. I have been thru numerous throttle position sensors and in finally get sick of buying them ( on third one ) I did some investigating and found something interesting. The pedal assembly I have now is part "F81A9F836AE" in searching this I get mixed results of it fitting my year. BUT for units built before 10/5/2000 the part number is "F81Z9F836AB" Both look exactly alike with the 2 plugs. ( 1 for TPS and 1 IVS )
Could this be my issue instead of the TPS? Would it be something in the IVS that would be different between the two?

They are both the same part. I assume you are getting the F81A9f836AE of the part itself. That is what Ford calls an engineering number for production. If you called a dealer and gave them that number it would cross to the F81Z9F836AB which is the correct pedal for an Excursion built before 10/5/2000.
