You are talking about buying the programming module itself, right? So that you can change between different FICM tunes?

Ed charges $150 + $15 shipping (last I checked) to put a single tune on your FICM.

If you buy say PHP's programmer module you can play around and see which one you like best, or change it based on whether you are towing heavy or wanting to play racer-man for the weekend. I think PHP's programmer is around $400...

Just trying to clarify that is the Q you are asking...

Yeah they are any where from 400 to 600. From what I've seen. I'm not sure I've heard if you tow a lot. Then you shouldn't put atlas 40 on or if you tow heavy. I tow 8/9k every couple weeks or so I was looking at something that had acouple choices instead of just one

IMHO you'd be fine towing that with the Atlas 40 as long as you use some common sense and watch your EGT's

Go visit PHP's website -- they say they are doing "remote FICM programming". You might have to call on that. Here's a link to PHP:
Power Hungry Performance - Feed your hunger for POWER!

BTW: everyone loves the FICM tunes from PHP (that I've read).

They generally don't cost more than $400.

I have the PHP Ficm tuner which allows me the flexibility to switch between the FICM tunes of:

-Econo
-Atlas 40
-Atlas 80
-Hercules

While it would be awesome to switch on the fly, the FICM isn't that cool with that and must be programmed as you would with an SCT tuner.

The Econo tune would suit you best as it relives the FICM (gatekeeper of fuel) of the restrictions Ford put in over the years while still being able to safely tow.

Is it possible to buy a FICM programmer that supports more than one vehicle? There is a local shop on craigslist offering the standard FICM tunes...is he sending them away to be tuned? Or is there a tool one can buy?

Not to support more than one vehicle. It would be like cutting their own throat. If there's a local shop tuning them in your area maybe you should inquire who wrote the software. I know at one point that PHP/Bill had talked about moving to Oregon.

I'm not going to provide a link because I'm currently involved in a lawsuit against this guy for other reasons.

His post on craigslist says this:
"We are an authorized dealer for there FICM tuning and can do it same day featuring your choice of tunes from the Atlas40=40HP to the Hercules 100HP tune"

How does Ed at ficmrepair.com do it? Is he one of the few with the license to do it over and over, or can anybody do that if they pay enough?

I'm fairly certain that Ed has to pay a fee for every FICM tune he does. I don't know that to be a fact so maybe he'll chime in and let us know for sure.

Is it normal for a little hole in the wall diesel shop to be able to offer those FICM tunes? I always thought I had to either send away my FICM or buy the tuner. If local shops can do it I'd like to find a different one that can...

We do indeed pay a licensing fee to PHP for every module that we tune. Most people elect the Atlas 40 tune and use an ECM tuner to switch between power and transmission settings. It's less money and plenty functional.

Let us know if we can hook you up - either on the FICM tune side OR with an ECM tuner!

Does PHP only allow you and a couple other places to do that? I think there are only two listed on their website. I'm wondering if this mechanic on CL is doing something shady?
