I changed my first one after 500 miles to see what it was like. It was barely dirty. I imagine it is different per truck and previous maintenance. I wonder if his got plugged after a VC9 type flush? That seems to happen sometimes.

That's what I'm expecting, as well. I just installed mine after a full Restore/VC-9 series of flushes. I collected the flushes and could see the difference, but as we all know particulate is always left somewhere in the system.
I think I'll change my first filter out in about 500 mi to see what I'm working with. The filters are cheap enough.
After having the truck for 30k and not knowing what the previous owner(s) did for 155k I'm anticipating ugliness.

I made sure to turn off my filters before I did the last flush...no reason to filter the flush water...

So, based on several posts here in this thread, but mainly yours: I'm thinking the whole "change the 1st filter in X months and the 2nd one in Y miles" type concept is baloney...? (well I was thinking that anyway, you just confirmed it)
And what the heck happened to your sig line? Did it go wherever the smileys went for awhile???!
