Hello everyone. I just bought a 2002 F150 4.2L with 160K miles a few weeks ago. Ran great. Got home and put it on my lift to check out the brakes and found a water leak. Intake / head gasket blew. Decided to rebuild engine. "BTW, lifting the cab off the frame makes it a lot easier to remove engine by yourself."
Would really appreciate help from the forum members with my rebuild questions.
Ran into issues with how to torque the heads.
Step 1-3 says to torque at different ftlbs (14, 29, 36)
Step 4 says to loosen bolts 3 turns and re-torque (Long =33, short =19)
Question: Do I loosen and re-torque one at a time?
Step 4 says to do additional +180 degree turn.
Question: Do I do re-torque first on all bolts in sequence and then do all +180 in sequence or do I loosen, re-torque, then +180 degree on each bolt one at a time?
Haynes is vague on specs. I am wondering now if I torqued down my crank and rods correctly. Just want to do this right the first time.
Thanks in advance.
