U-joints question

that's it.. that's a vacuum seal.. the blue stuff on the inside of the seal comes off when you press it on the little stub axle. you install seal on axle shaft first then use that same tool you used to install on axle and then install it into the knuckle. then the brg assy gets bolted back into the knuckle..

the brg assy in the frt hubs are a sealed brg..

the spicer number should be 50491 but I might be wrong my spicer books are at work..

so i'm assuming we can't just slide it in. it has to be driven? don't auto parts stores sell tat special seal driver tool?

yes It is a press fit more so on to the axle then inside the steering knuckle..they may have the seal installer at some auto part stores might want to check..

Sorry for the late reply. Benny, I had my wreck in August last year. My initial rebuild was just front wheel hub, new spacer and new axle seals with ball joints. A friend of mine did tat front end stuff.

Front end is getting to be a real pain. Lol.

We used to have a place here called Tool Town that had a lot
of the oddball tools and they had one that I picked up. Solid
aluminum with a steel cap on the driver end that the hammer hits.
Still it HEAVY! You might look around to see if you have a place like Tool Town
around you.
